Lenovo Lends Support to Irish Open Source Community RSS
0 CommentsPC and laptop specialists Lenovo, are supporting the Irish open source software community.
They will provide a range of laptops to IrishDev.com, the conference organisers of the Irish Open Source Technology Conference 2008.
Commenting at the announcement, IOTC conference organiser Barry Alistair of IrishDev.com said "We feel it's an essential part of the organisation of the Irish 'x' Technology Conference series to take the pressure away from our line up of presenters. By having fully kitted laptops ready on the podium from which they can just turn up and push in a USB device means all the hassle and pressure of setting up their own machine in a 15 minute window is taken away. This is really important time when they're mentally preparing for standing up in front of hundreds of developers to give their presentation."
He continued "We're extremely pleased to work with Lenovo. Through the IBM brand, they have a long standing track record in Ireland, and through initiatives like Games Fleadh championed by the Phil Bourke of the Tipperary Institute (and who presented at the IMTC 2008), and Microsofts Imagine Cup they're tirelessly working to support ICT in second and third level education. Their values in this regard would not be disimilar from our own."
IrishDev.com will again build upon the live streaming exercise that they begun at the recent Irish Microsoft Technology Conference, and Lenovo will supply the laptops to enable the Irish Open Source Technology Conference to stream live and pre-recorded interviews and live sessions via the IOTC website.
