A Career in Open Source
Contributing to Open Source is a great way to raise your profile, stand out from a crowd, make contacts and develop relevant experience. According to Colm MacCarthaigh, by learning how to emphasise which parts of Open Source experience are the most relevant to a business, and how to use the network of contacts that an Open Source project will naturally have it's possible to become a lot more employable.

Colm is a local Dubliner and active contributor to many open source projects. In addition to being a member of development team for the Apache httpd server, and member of the Apache Software Foundation, he has contributed to projects as varied as the Exim mail server and the Debian and Ubuntu Operating Systems.
