Alan Roberts & Alan Guinane
Alan Guinane lives in the west coast of Clare and travels to the Dublin office every week.
Alan Roberts (pictured) has been with AIB for 31 years and was born and bred in Dublin.
Since graduating from University of Limerick in 1989 with a degree in Applied Mathematics Alan Guinane has been largely in the financial services sector in companies like AIB Bank and before that, Goodbody Stockbrokers. He worked in New York for Bank of Ireland and Rockefeller Centre. Lunchtime running with other colleagues has a big allure for him as many intractable problems were solved along Sandymount strand when exhausted runners speak frankly.
Over his 31 years with AIB, Alan Roberts (pictured) has been involved in every layer of technology through from the original computerisation in the late 1970’s, to the first iterations of on-line banking in the mid 1980’s, re-platforming in the mid 1990’s, and the introduction our New Banking Platform (NBP) in 2005/6. His qualifications include a Masters Degree in Change Management and various other financial and business diplomas. Alan is married for twenty years and has three children.
He claims he is not a technologist, instead his background is business and for many years he has served as the linkage between technology and the business. He has managed many change projects (mainly with a technology slant) into the business. Most recently, he managed the New Banking Platform upgrade (an investment of over €70m)
His hobbies include running, guitar and DIY…which he describes as 'all three done to excess'.
